Please use this website to offer your prayers, best wishes, and financial support to Sue Savittieri in the loss of her husband, Ernie.

Your donation to the Foundation will help to cover the cost of Ernie’s funeral, and help the Foundation in its mission to continue to provide bereavement and spiritual support to patients and staff of MIHS and to provide direct assistance to the uninsured who are unable to meet their co-pay or deductible requirements as patients of Maricopa Integrated Health System.

In loving memory of Ernie P. Savittieri

Born January 25th, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey. Ernie enjoyed 84 wonderful years on this Earth. His greatest joy was being with his family and spreading his love of faith with others.

Ernie was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Japan as a Military Policeman during World War II. Upon coming home and moving to Arizona, Ernie met the love of his life Sue Smith. Ernie and Sue married and started a family. He pursued a career in the construction business. After a successful career of providing beautiful homes to his clients, Ernie retired to spend time with his lovely wife and to follow his love of helping others find the love of God. He touched many lives with his kindness, humor and love of his fellow man.

Ernie was a former President of the Legion of Mary Prasesidium, and Comitium, and member of Knights of Columbus.

He gave the last 20 years of his life taking communion to the prisoners in every jail in Maricopa County, and he fought for causes concerning prisoners. He was instrumental in many changes for more humane treatment of prisoners with terminal illnesses.

He served Maricopa Integrated Health System as a Eucharistic Minister for years at Desert Vista Behavioral Center in Mesa, AZ., and Behavioral Psych Annex in Phoenix, AZ., bringing the patients, and staff Communion, prayer, hope, encouragement, bibles, prayer cards, love, and joy.

In the end, knowing his time was short, Ernie was surrounded by the people that loved him most. His smile and companionship will be missed by all that knew him. He knew that Paradise awaited him and he was at peace with himself.

Ernie has left this Earth, but will always remain in the hearts of his wife Sue, his daughters Schembra, Becka and Michelle. His son-in-laws Mike and Steven, his grandchildren, Chris, Brandon, Michael, Molly, Daniel, Michael, Riley, Isabella, and his 3 great grandchildren Drew, Mason and Vivian. Not to mention all his countless friends.

Ernie is preceded in death by his parents Philip and Catherine Savittieri and his son Joseph Terry Savittieri.
