This is the Deann Cassidy Breast Cancer fund. The funds will be used to help with the medical/daily living expenses. Thanks!!!!!

Please help offset/assist with medical/daily living expenses to alleviate the financial burden. To help Deann fight the fight against her Breast Cancer.

Deann had a baseline mammogram at age 37 because her mother had recently had lumpectomy to remove a pea size piece of breast cancer. That baseline mammogram showed a suspicious spot that required additional views. When the 2nd mammogram was done the area compressed out and was considered to be normal fibrous tissue.

At age 39 (before most women have their first mammogram) she noticed a large knot in her left breast. This knot was not painful, she was not having any discharge, it was not red or inflamed and already having had one mammogram and no insurance put it off for a few months.

Deann being an LPN at a local clinic talked to her co-worker and friend Marsha that is a nurse practioner about it and Marsha along with Deann's significant other Dean encouraged Deann to have a mammogram especially given her mother's history.

Deann is the type of person that is always taking care of others and putting herself last to be taken care of. She does not like to be taken care of she likes to take care of others.

Finally she made herself an appointment with Marsha the nurse practioner to take a look at her knot, more to get Dean and Marsha off her back. Marsha was shocked at the size of the lump and agreed with Deann that it did not have the typical breast cancer symptoms. Marsha and Dean still insisted on Deann getting a mammogram. "Just to be on the safe side". She grudgingly agreed. This was on December 17, 2010. They immediately did sonogram as well and told her that the large lump look "very suspicious" and should be biopsied.

4 days later Deann's mother was hospitalized with a blockage in her leg, so Deann being the caregiver went and spent 2 days at the hospital with her mother before coming back home to have her breast biopsied on December 23, 2010. Her mother made it home from the hospital on Christmas Eve.

One week after the biopsy she got the results--- Invasive ductal carcinoma. The surgeon had removed 2 1/2 cm of cancer and there was still more left. She now needed to see a plastic surgeon to discuss her options and an oncologist to discuss treatment. She at age 39 is scheduled for mastectomy of her left breast on January 21, 2011.

Deann is going to be off of work to recover from her surgery at least 4 weeks without pay.

We would appreciate any assistance you can give to help her get through this rough time.
