Our Vision The Black to Africa Movement\'s (BTAM) mission is to unify people within the worldwide African Diaspora through arts, education, and cultural exchange.

The Performing Artist Exchange Program (P.A.E.P.) is BTAM’s first program designed to cross cultural boundaries through our common love for the arts. Program participants will collaborate with local artists, teach workshops to youth, and participate in forums that address the cultural similarities, differences, and issues we face in the African Diaspora. Volunteers will celebrate their work by performing in our festival at the end of the program.

The Performing Artist Exchange Program (P.A.E.P) is raising funds for Tuition Scholarships For Youth in Togo, West Africa on Kickstarter! The Black to Africa Movement unites performing artists from the US with African performing artists to provide tuition scholarships for African youth.

Where will the program be held?

âž¡Togo and Ghana, West Africa

âž¡When is the program taking place?

âž¡July 5th - August 5th, 2010

âž¡What is the cost?**

âž¡The program cost is $1,900. We are trying to support two individuals and raise $5,000. This includes all food, local travel, housing, class fees, and administrative costs for the month. This also includes contributing to the sponsorship of two students for one year. The cost does not include airfare to Togo, visas, or the mandatory yellow fever shot.

âž¡Many students in Togo and Ghana are required to pay for their education--including public schools--starting as early as grade school. As a result, education is possible only for families capable of affording tuition, books, school supplies, and uniforms, leaving many children without a full education. Our program will help provide scholarships to some of these students. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the Festival

âž¡What is the Festival?

âž¡The Festival is the culminating event that celebrates the cultural exchange and the progress made during the program. Multiple performing companies from around the region will join us for a weekend of performances and celebration in Togo, West Africa. Volunteers will perform with the youth and adult artists, as well as perform our collaborative pieces. It will be our final celebration and statement of unity.
