This fund is to assist my mother Rosebud and the everyday lives of the visually impaired in Charlotte, NC.

On October 28th of 2005, my mother abruptly lost her vision while having dinner with my father. She was gazing down at the plate and simply could no longer see. It was an emotional ride for the next year where she underwent over 12 surgeries in order to restore some of her vision. Unfortunately, the surgeries did not work and she has had to relearn everything, and become quite dependent on others. However, a very special organization has provided her with tools to cook in the kitchen, skills such as typing, and emotional support that has become an essential part of her adjusting to vision loss and becoming a more independent person. Without the help of MAB in Charlotte, North Carolina I really don't know how she would have gotten through this devastating period in her life. As a gift, I would like to raise $2,500 that will be given to MAB to honor the 7th year "anniversary" of my mother losing her sight.  This money doesn't just go to helping my mother, but to helping every visually impaired person in Charlotte. I wanted to start this fundraiser because I recently read a story about a visually impaired man that was stuck at a traffic light for over 30 minutes because he was afraid to walk into the intersection. It brought tears to my eyes because on any given day I know that could be my mother. MAB communicates with the Charlotte Department of Transportation and helps to petition Accessible Pedestrian Signals through the city, which add beeping sounds that provide audio feedback assisting visually impaired pedestrians. Words cannot express how thankful I am that this organization put time, effort, and energy into assisting my mother by helping her regain some independence and I'd really like to show my gratitude. Please consider donating even the smallest amount, every little bit helps.
