This is the stem cell treatment fund of Özcan Kesim. All funds will go towards these medical and related costs.

My friends,

On September 10, 2011, my little brother Özcan, the youngest and the most loving of my three siblings (for all those who know us, that’s saying a lot), had a terrible motorcycle accident. As a result, Özcan’s spinal cord was severed at the neck, at vertebrae C5-C6 to be exact, which rendered him paralyzed below the point of injury. Despite the severity of his injury, the shock and tragedy of it all, this truly amazing twenty-seven-year-old of tremendous personal character and strength has brought smiles and hope to our entire family and countless friends.

Needless to say, even the smallest recovery of a single nerve cell is celebrated as a victory, a glimmer of hope, a new chance. Over the past few months, my persistent attempts to find potential treatments and solutions in the mainstream Western medical world hit a brick wall. There is undeniable evidence of successful experimental stem cell treatments and clinical trials in other parts of the world. However, insufficient funding, politics and Big Pharma interests have all but extinguished hope for viable stem cell treatments in the tangible future in the U.S. and Europe.

Well, we refuse to take no for an answer and give up simply because of special interests and artificial hurdles. We refuse to believe that all we can do is wait until a solution falls into our laps. This is the fight of our lives and we can’t fight it without your help.

After months of research, late-night studies of the latest stem cell advancements, email exchanges and meetings, I traveled on a fact finding visit to an impressive clinic in Panama ( While there, I interviewed the administrative staff, doctors, and patients. The clinic proved to be outstanding and the treatment it offers is Özcan’s best chance. We have decided to undergo a four-week treatment and now need your help.

We are asking you to donate any amount possible and forward this request along to your networks. With your help and kindness, spinal cord and many other injuries and illnesses will find their end in stem cell treatments.
