My mother, Carolyn J. Headley, is currently undergoing cancer treatment and she is experiencing mounting medical bills. We are looking for support which will allow her to climb out from under her medical debt.

Back in September of 2009 my mother called me to tell me she was sick and that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.  I was used to my mother telling me she was not feeling well or that she was having some back pain,  but when I heard the words "breast cancer" I was stund.  I remember being very calm with her, because I wanted to keep her mind focused on health and what the plan should be to get the help she needed.  I did not want to allow her to feel any sense of doom.  I tried to pump her up and direct her towards her plan of attack.

Following that conversation, my mother has undergone appointments, testing, a removal of a tissue mass, lymphnode removals, more testing and now is undergoing chemotherapy.  Soon she will be undergoing radiation.  Throughout her experiences, she has had some pretty signifcant ups and down, but all in all she has held strong.  With the loving support of her friends and family, she has been fighting her way towards her recovery, which she will undoubtedly achieve.

The issue right now is that as she continues to undergo her treatments, her medical expenses continue to mount.  Her medications, office visits and testing for all of this has proven to be a huge burden, like it is for many families.  She is behind on payments for her medical expenses and has even been sent to collections for some of them.  This simply adds insult to injury and needs to be dealt with.

We are asking for your help to support my mom.  We understand that giving, especially in these times, is extremely difficult.  We are not asking for anyone to do more than what they can possibly do.  If you decide to donate to this fundraiser for my mother, only give what you can.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this.
