Our 17 year old daughter was diagnosed with a muscle disorder called Dystonia, when she was 6. This disease affects her walking and talking.

Our beautiful 17 year old daughter was diagnosed with Dystonia when she was only 6, Although she showed no signes of the disease early in her life, she soon started to walk with a limp, her speech became slurred, and she stopped using her hands. Now, she is confined to a wheel chair, and at 17 years old, yearns to be like a "normal teenager." She needs funding to help pay for extensive physical therapy,(which costs $150.00 an hour, 2 hours a day, three days a week!) Without this therapy, she will be confined to a wheel chair for the rest of her life! She is in desperate need of adapative equipment (special wheel chair tub, with handle bars). And for out of the home(she wants to try using a walker). She needs special leg braces,(which cost $1000.00). But her biggest goal is to learn to walk again. She cries all the time about not being able to do what the other kids her age can do. She is becomming depressed, and dispondant. We can't afford a home that will accomadate her needs,(with a room on the first floor, which could cost $50,000) so she spends most of her time in her room, reading, dreaming of a better life. From the bottom of my heart, please know that, through your contribution, my beautiful, sweet daughter will have a chance to walk again!
