The family & friends of Lilly Dutcher are uniting to raise money to help offset the cost of her aftercare and physical therapy needs.

Lillian Polly Dutcher is an outgoing, adventurous and brave 3 year old that finds herself in a Spica cast for 12 weeks followed by 4 weeks in a leg brace and finally 3 months of physical therapy to learn to walk again.

Lilly is in the cast as the result of her open hip reduction surgery due to a congenital hip dislocation since birth. The surgery was performed on July 15th, 2011 at Children's Hospital in Seattle, Washington by Dr. Stinman and Dr. White.

If you’re not sure what a Spica cast is, please Google the term and take a look at the image results. 12 weeks immobile from the chest to the lower leg would be difficult for an adult to handle, much less an active 3 year old.

Lilly and her parents have had challenges adjusting to the cast, made more difficult with mom Sarah 7 months pregnant. But in classic Lilly style she has done an amazing job adapting to the cast, keeping her sense of humor and manners during this difficult time.

Sarah has had to take an unpaid leave of absence from work as Lilly needs 24 hour care during this time. Leaving the family with farther Travis's job as the only source of income.

Thankfully the surgery was covered by their medical insurance however the 3 months of physical therapy Lilly will require at the end of this journey to learn how to walk again is not covered. Combined with the loss of income we are asking for your donations to help cover the physical therapy expense and other expenses not covered by insurance.

The other day I gave Lilly a $1.00 for going to the bathroom (a challenge in the cast) and we headed to the Burien Farmers Market. At the market a booth was set-up accepting donations to help an animal rescue in Burien. After inquiring what the booth was for Lilly proclaimed she wanted to donate her dollar "to help the puppies". An unselfish act by a great 3 year old. She wanted to help the puppies, like we are asking all of you to help her.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
