The family of Danica Burdine are trying to raise money to pay for home nurse care & and extended rehab after suffering multiple strokes.

In July 2011 Danica suffered a stroke that left her with slurred speech and limited movement on her left side. After 3 weeks in rehab, Dani was able to come home almost 85% recovered.

In September 2011, Danica suffered another stroke that effected the PONS area of her brain.(The pons contains many bundles of nerves that carry movement and sensory messages between the brain and the body.) This one put her in ICU for three weeks, while also battling pneumonia. It left her unable to speak, and damaged the nerves that control the muscles in her airway along with her right side. She is now unable to swallow on her own and received a PEG tube in order to get her nutrition.

Danica is a mother to two boys, Connor (7) who has epilepsy and is in the Austism Spectrum, and Seneca who is 2. These boys are her world and she would love nothing more than to come home to them.

She is schedualed to be released from rehab on Nov 1st 2011*

Unfortunately she can not be left alone and we can not afford a home nurse to help her get around, dressed, bathe, or in case of an emergency call for any sort of help. Danica is only 44 years young and is completely mentally aware of everything going on around her, which is a blessing and a curse. Imagine things happening around you that you could not react to in anyway, especially involving your children?

We would like to use this money to help cover the out of pocket costs to have a home nurse and/or send her to a longer/more intense form of rehab that may help her get speech, swallowing abilities and general independence back.

Thank you for your support and consideration.
