Pascal is my 15 month old Australian-Shepherd Golden Retriever mix. I am raising money to pay for his Parvo medical expenses.

This is Pascal, my 15 month old Australian-Shepherd Golden Retriever mix. My fiancée and I adopted him last November when he was just two months old from a local family whose dog had puppies. He was a happy little puppy, who instantly befriended our other dog Mucha, and it seemed like the two were already long time brothers. Within 24 hours, Pascal suddenly began vomiting and having horrible diarrhea. After rushing him to the vet, we quickly learned that he had Parvo, a highly contagious virus that was affecting his intestinal track. The vet cautiously gave him a 50 percent survival rate, but stated she had yet to lose a dog to Parvo. Having only known him for less than 24 hours, and given the poor survival rate and possibly high cost of failure, I had to decide whether to save him. After three days of transporting him from a day vet to an overnight vet, progress and relapse, and a roller coaster of emotions, Pascal pulled through, and has been a wonderful addition to our family.

The entire process cost over almost 1800 dollars, in which I paid 600 out of pocket. Since last year I have been chipping away at the 1200 dollar bill and have gotten it to 800 dollars. At the beginning of the summer, however, Pascal started to limp. At first we noticed it only occurred when he would lay down for extended periods of time, and then move. Then we noticed it was after running around for a long period of time, and then just resting in general. After taking him to the vet, we learned that most likely he has arthritis in his leg, and that most dogs who develop his particular arthritis usually undergo a surgery called TPLO. She recommended that we seek a consultation of an Orthopedic surgeon.

Unfortunately, we were not aware of the differences between wellness plans and pet insurances, and where we thought we had him insured we actually did not. Because this is now a pre-existing we have to pay the entire process out of pocket, from consultation which will to the surgery, which is estimated to be between 2300-3500 dollars. This has something that I have accepted, but it would help to get some help paying off his Parvo expenses so I can move onto the surgery. All the money earned through the site will go to his Parvo expenses and future surgery.
