Family and friends of Kelli Poindexter are uniting to raise money to help pay for her medical expenses to battle Cervical Cancer.

My name is Kelli Poindexter and I am 41 years old. I am a Mother of three amazing children, Christopher is my oldest, Ryan is my middle child and Shelby is my sweet baby girl, who just turned 16 in August. I am married to a wonderful man, whom I met while he was serving in the Marine Corps. I am also a Grandmoher to two beautiful little girls.
My battle with cervical Caner began in May of 2007
I immediately began treatment with internal/external beam radiation and followed with chemotherapy and a full hysterectomy. After this treatment and a follow up a Cat Scan, I was told that I was in remission. After receiving this news, I was beyond grateful. It was also time for my Husband to get out of the Marine Corps. After two tours in Iraq, we were ready to move home. Everything was looking so promising until January of 2009, when I noticed some swollen lymph nodes in my neck and immediately contacted my Doctor. I received the devastating news that the Cancer had returned and had metastasized to my lymphatic system I again put on my boxing gloves and was ready to fight this disease once again. I began treatment at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Chicago and received treatment there until March of 2011. My treatment there included five long weeks of continuous radiation, chemotherapy and naturopathic remedies as well. It was extremely difficult to manage being away fom my Daughter. I just kept praying and thinking any day I would go into remission, but that has yet to happen.
Several months ago, I took a nasty fall and fractured a vertebrae in my lower lumbar spine. I am now unable to use my left leg, which in turn has made everyday activities extremely difficult and painful.
I recently finished a round of treatment at Oklahoma University Cancer Center. I had to stop my treatment at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Chicago due to the inability to travel every 3 weeks. It just became unmanageable to receive treatment there anymore.
I am a fighter and refuse to give up. There is a Doctor in Houston, Texas, whom I have just been made aware of. I am trying to raise this money to receive treatment that is not covered by my insurance company. I still have HOPE that one day I will hear those words I so desperately want to hear, " You are in remission, the Cancer is gone!"
I want to express my gratitude to you for taking the time to read my story. Please pass it along. I need all the help anyone is able or willing to so kindly give. Most of all, prayers!
Much love~
