On 9/16 Del was hit by a car. He has made a miraculous recovery thus far. All funds collected will go directly toward his vet bills.

My name is Delmar and I am a one year old domestic short haired cat. I live with a very loving family that treats me like I am the youngest member, not just a cat.

I am also a companion cat for Joey. Joey is 23 and has cerebral palsy. He likes me a lot. He feeds me, gives me treats, and brushes me ... my favorite spot to sleep is at the end of his bed. Joey just seems to be happier, and more calm when I am around.

On the morning of September 16th, I was hit by a car and endured major trauma to my left hind leg. Additionally, I required stitches to repair damage to my lower lip, a broken rib, and bruised lungs. I am currently at home, resting and recovering. However, as a result of treatment for my injuries, having to spend the weekend at the vet hospital, breathing treatments, wound care, antibiotics, and subsequent check-ups my vet bills have added up. In an ideal situation, I will require several more check-ups, antibiotics, and a procedure to remove dead tissue from the bottom of my leg in the coming months (once I am healthy enough to handle the surgery.)

The majority of my vet bills have been placed on credit cards, and the remainder of them are an outstanding balance at the vet hospital. Any contributions would greatly alleviate the financial burden my incident has caused.

All contributions and positive thoughts are greatly/ enormously/ immensely appreciated.

Meow for now,
Delmar (and the rest of the Newton family)

UPDATE, 10/16:
It has been exactly one month since Del's accident, and we are happy to report that he has cleared many hurdles (not literally, yet.)

We have seen him progress from a critically injured animal, to a recovering cat where he slept constantly and was almost completely immobile, even eating and drinking while lying down. He has been healing and getting a little stronger everyday.

He is now walking on a limited basis, has had his staples and stitches removed, and is eating like a king.

He has also been to several check-ups where he acts like a total ham, sitting tall on the exam table and purring any time someone pays attention to him.

UPDATE, 11/20:
Delmar had a minor surgery to fix his leg on November 9th. He has recovered swimmingly.

His leg has healed beautifully, and he had his stitches removed on the November 19th. He is moving about pain free, and is (almost) as good as new .
