I am desperately trying to raise money for a service dog for my fiance, who is a disabled veteran. A PTSD service dog is our last resort.

My fiance is a disabled combat veteran of Afghanistan. For the past few years we have desperately tried many forms of therapy to help him cope with his condition, but have had little success. We also have tried to get him into the VA's pilot program to for PTSD service dogs but we live outside of the 125 mile radius they have set for their trial hospital in Williston, Florida.
Our hope now has been to work with a very reputable group called Guardian Angel Medical Service Dogs (who actually supply the dogs for the VA study) Which is also based out of Williston. To get one of these dogs for my soldier is $20,000, which sounds incredible at first but makes a little more sense when considered that they put 15,000 work hours into each dog, and they are of the highest physical and personality quality. Please check out the link below, to see how awesome these dogs are:

These PTSD service dogs are trained with very specific skills. A dog would be able to arouse him when he has his nightly nightmares and constant flashback daydreams. It would be able to intercept any approaching person and warn him, providing a barrier of security, as well as the companionship of owning a dog. The dog would force my fiance into an active routine again, getting him out of our apartment and socializing.
He wants to remain nameless as he feel that being identified with suffering so badly with PTSD will have a detrimental effect on finding a job if he is ever well enough to work. I truly believe a service dog would change his life, and both our lives. As perhaps some of you may know coping with the symptoms of PTSD is incredibly difficult.
