Aubrianna: Nobel, the strong one.

Fundraiser Update: Again, thank you all so much for supporting The Carr Family with your prayers, emotional support, and by donating! We wanted to get Amanda and Scott the funds that were donated in the first fundraiser. We raised $7,385! You all are so amazing. This fundraiser has been set up to expire on June 30th for everyone that has yet to donate.

On April 24, 2012, Scott and Amanda Carr welcomed their first child into the world, Aubrianna Marie Carr.

At 23 weeks pregnant, Amanda had been experiencing what was thought to be early contractions. On Monday, April 23 at 25 weeks pregnant, Amanda had a rough day at work that required her to be on her feet most of the day. She started having contractions again and went to see the doctor that afternoon. She was ordered to be on bed rest for the remainder of the week.

That evening Amanda woke up with bad abdominal pain, thinking it was the early contractions. Her doctor had prescribed her some medication to help the contractions stop. After taking the medication, Scott and Amanda waited an hour for them to go away, but they didn’t stop. Scott rushed Amanda to the hospital.

At the hospital, the nurse was monitoring Aubrianna’s heart rate for some time, and then suddenly rushed out of the room. Aubrianna's heart rate had dropped extremely low. The nurse returned with 5 or 6 doctors and nurses. Amanda was rushed into an emergency cesarean.

Aubrianna Marie Carr was born 15 weeks early at 2:46 AM, April 24. She weighed merely 1 pound 13 ounces and measured 13 inches long.

During the operation the surgeon noticed a large amount of blood in Amanda's abdominal region. They started exploratory surgery and found that Amanda's left fallopian tube had ruptured. It was removed and Amanda was given a blood transfusion to replace the blood she had lost. Turns out it was about half of her blood.

Within an hour or so, Aubrianna was transferred to St. Joseph in Denver and Amanda remained at Good Samaritan in Lafayette. Fortunately, Amanda was showing a speedy recovery so after 2 days she was able to transfer to St. Joseph. For the first time, she was able to meet Aubrianna and be by her side. Everything seemed to be coming together nicely.

The next morning Scott and Amanda had a visit from Aubrianna's doctor. They knew that there was something wrong when they saw the look on his face. The doctor informed them that she had bleeding in her brain, which is common for babies born this early, but the bleeding was severe. On a scale of one to four, Aubrianna has a level four bleed on the right side of her brain. They immediately baptized her not knowing how long she would be with her parents. Aubrianna’s condition changes day by day—Scott and Amanda are taking it day by day.

Every day the family and friends of the Carr Family pray for Aubrianna, Amanda, and Scott. They are blessed with a supportive, caring, and loving family and group of friends. With that, we started this fund with the intention to bring together those family and friends to alleviate some of the monetary stresses for the Carr Family. At this time, Scott and Amanda are taking some time off work to be by Aubrianna’s side. The medical bills are stacking up and bills can’t be put on hold. We ask that you help the family by donating to The Carr Family Fund—simply to help.

We thank you for donating to the The Carr Family Fund to help the family during this difficult time. We also ask and thank you for your continued prayers for the Carr Family.

Scott, Amanda, and Aubrianna—you are admired for your strength and courage. We all love you very much!

Proceeds will be given to Scott and Amanda at the expiration of donation period. Note that because the donations will be given to Scott and Amanda directly and not to a non-profit, the donation does not qualify as tax deductable.
