The friends and co-workers of Lori Zinda are uniting to raise money to help with her 14 year battle against breast cancer. Thank you!

Lori was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and underwent surgery to remove her left breast. She was in remission for one year and then in 1999, the cancer spread into her bones and liver and she was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer. With a slim chance of recovery, Lori battled this disease heroically with a positive outlook moving forward one day at a time. For 13 years she has endured chemotherapy, radiation, four surgeries, and complete hair loss (twice). She traveled 100 miles for chemotherapy treatment bi-monthly for many of those years. She worked every day she physically could as an assistant in special education at an elementary school. She never complained about her pain, nausea, numbness of limbs, loss of appetite, or exhaustion and continued to smile every day that she could work with children. Lori started and supervised for several years, an after-school reading program, applying for grants, buying rewards and motivating children to improve their reading ability in grades 3-6. She was a PTO president, parent volunteer, Girl Scout leader and was instrumental in raising funds to build a running track at the elementary school her four children attended. She has helped create teams to raise funds for breast cancer awareness in our community as well as many, many fundraisers for her children's school events. She never wanted any fundraisers for herself even though her husband has seasonal work. By July 2012 Lori was immune to all the different kinds of chemotherapy offered. One new treatment may be available in a few months to help her, but her doctors have given her only two to three months left to share with her family. Only last week she accepted the idea she would no longer be able to work as an educational assistant at her elementary school. She reluctantly has agreed to let us have a benefit to help with the bills and living expenses for her family Kevin (husband), Josh, Lacey, Krista, and Tanner. This has been difficult for her because she is a "giver," not a "taker." We believe in miracles and Lori has beaten the odds before. Let's help her do it again with your love, support and prayers. Thank you for any support you can give!
