single mom with a 6 yr old - Aspergers (autism) also wears braces on both of his feet. Please help with travel and deductable expenses.

I want to tell you about my son, Caleb Turner. Caleb is a joyful, loving and smart 6 yr old. He has recently been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome and is also wearing braces on both feet for a condition called Idiopathic Toe Walking. Caleb has never let any of his disabilities hold him back from participating in normal activities that a child of his age likes to do. He plays basketball, although his height is a bit of a disadvantage and the braces prevent him from jumping real high and running very fast. Caleb loves to play with Lego's and is constantly creating new things with them. All he has to do is imagine it, then he makes it a reality. He also loves Star Wars. He creates ships from Star wars with his Lego's. He enjoys riding his bike and plays his Wii on occasion. Caleb also has a passion for gardening and collecting rocks. Caleb has and I have created an environment that he is able to flourish in. However, due to my disability I am currently unable to work, due to having been diagnosed with MS. I left my job at a local hospital earlier this year.  Caleb's dad is not very active in his life and the care of Caleb.  His father is currently active duty with the Louisiana National Guard, so he is carrying Caleb on insurance at this time. Although his pay is garnished, he will not be active duty after the first of the year.  Caleb is currently being treated for his braces through Shriners of Shreveport, La. We live 2.5 hrs away and have to make trips there frequently. We are both so thankful for Shriners and the help that they have provided us in getting Caleb's feet taken care of. Unfortunately it is challenging to pay for the travel expenses when I have to make a minimal amount of money stretch for a month. He is also being seen by a psychologist to aid in social development and behavior modification. These visits cost us $150.00 a month in deductibles. This last year has been a humbling one for me. Having to leave my job devastated me emotionally and financially. I have gone through my savings and am now having to ask for others to provide aid for my son and myself. I have prayed and prayed that I will get well enough to return to work, however the meds that I take make me extremely tired. I do not take these during the day so that I can participate in our lives. By the end of the day, my pain is so severe at times that I cry myself to sleep. Caleb and I would truly appreciate any amount that you can donate to his travel and medical expenses. We are both faithful Christians and walk in faith at all times. I am a true believer in pay it forward and have spent many hours helping others and donated thanks to this belief. You can rest assured that this is a pay it forward donation. Many thanks to all who help through either monetary means or through prayer.
