Marine sanctuary savior, R. Herberger, swam 500km to promote extensive marine protected areas worldwide. Please support her swims generously

Documentary filmmaker, Jennifer Pickford, famous for her production and filming of Eco Warriors, would love to make a major documentary of Renate's upcoming 6th Pacific coast Costa Rica swim.

Her fee including airfare is 5000USD to produce and film the documentary that could be shown at international film festivals. The fee of the daily boat support to ensure safety of Renate's swim costs at least 150USD/day.

The Costa Rican Pacific coast is 1021km long, which equals 50 days of swimming at a minimum of 20km/day. This is considered a full marathon in the swimming world!

Her swim days alternate with teaching days and her projects take approximately 3 months.

So far Renate has spoken to over 14,000 students in Costa Rica, Mexico and Barbados about the needs of the ocean and what every student can do to help mediate the increasingly desperate marine crisis.
Student projects include theatre productions and dance performances, all to further understanding of our endangered marine world and ways for the coming generations to turn this around.

The swims themselves attract major media attention due to the massive distances swum by a woman of 57, and therefor give access to speak in community groups, schools, universities, hotels and anywhere else she finds herself invited to.

This is her 6th year promoting marine sanctuaries and she has received minimal funding so far, yet is still passionately continuing her quest even when it means emptying her own bank account.

Check out her progress so far!
