The Nashville Special Needs Kids Playgroup is having a Special Amazing Christmas Party in December 2011!

**We have had tremendous interest in our party from our special needs families; we'd like to accommodate ALL of them, and hope you can help us raise just a bit more to ensure they all have a Special Amazing Christmas!**

Something wonderful is going to happen this December!

Families from the Nashville Special Needs Kids Playgroup are going to have a Special Amazing Christmas Party! We are 40+ wonderful families with kids with disabilities. Our group is open to all children with special needs in Nashville and the surrounding areas up to age 8, and most of our families are Autism families.

My husband and I started the Nashville Special Needs Kids Playgroup in March 2010 because we wanted to meet little ones like our own little boy, and to provide playdates in a safe and welcoming environment. We were delighted to discover that not only would we meet many fantastic kids with various disabilities, but the parents of these children would become good friends as well; friends who understand one another and our own unique challenges. We get together for skateboarding clinics, rock-wall climbing, water days and pool days, Young Athletes/Special Olympics, a Special Needs storytime at our local library, Moms' Night Out, Dads' Football Sunday, and many other fun events. And for the first time in a long time, we find ourselves surrounded by families just like ours and every week we get the chance to feel like everybody else, to feel “normal”.

And that’s what our holiday party is all about! Often families with special needs kids -- especially those with Autism -- don’t get too many holiday invitations, and if they do get invited, sadly they don’t always get asked back! We plan to give these fantastic children and these wonderful parents – approximately 150 guests -- a holiday gala that will knock their socks off, a chance to celebrate in an environment where they can feel comfortable, be themselves, and have fun! And I am asking you if you could help me to throw this Special Amazing Christmas Party, just for them.

We would love if you would consider making a donation to our festivities; we would be happy to list you or your company as a sponsor on our invitations if you are able to give a gift of $250 or more. As a sponsor, your name will be included on our invitations, and we would make sure all 40+ of our Special Needs families are made aware of your generosity.

Here are some of the great things your gift would go towards:

Santa Suit, Bounce House, Snacks, Craft Supplies and other fun things for the kids: $425

Table Linens & Holiday Decor: $275

Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages for 150 fabulous guests: $1,800

Everyone is going to have SUCH a great time, don't you think? I can't wait to see their faces...

Many thanks for your time and consideration. And although it’s a bit early in the year, happy holidays!

From our members...

“I love the playgroup! I was so glad to find about this playgroup and to know that I was not alone, that there were other moms and dads going through the same things like me. I’ve learned many things from this group. The encouragement, parent support and tips I’ve received from the parents in the group have really enhanced our lives. “ Michelle, mom to Jonathan & Penny

"The Nashville Special Needs Kids Playgroup has been wonderful! I found it very beneficial to be able to talk with other moms (and dads) about the daily struggles that I face raising a child with autism. The playgroup always has cool and fun things to do for you and your children and you never feel singled out when your child starts having a meltdown because we have strength in numbers when with the playgroup. I especially like the Mom's Night Out. This playgroup has saved my sanity!"
-- Jodi, mom to Noah and Xavier

"Nashville Special Needs Playgroup has been a gift to my children and myself. We have found lifelong friends, invaluable support and advice, and a safe haven. When I recently found that my second child is also special needs, I was held up by the love and support of this group!"
-- Sabrina, mom to Gabriella, Robbie, and little one on the way

"This playgroup has been such a huge blessing to our whole family. It's so hard to find friends when you have a child on the spectrum. This group has given us a place where not only can our kids have fun where they are loved and accepted just as they are, but as parents we have found support and acceptance unlike we've had from any other friends. It's hard to even put into words just how grateful I am to have found this group, but I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to Jennifer and Naoise Sheridan for starting this group and providing all of us with a safe accepting environment for our kids to play and for us as parents to grow together and support each other through the many ups and downs that we face everyday! I'm so thankful for each and every family that I've gotten to know because of this group and I hope we'll all be friends for a very long time!"
-- Tara, mom to Caleb and Noah

"The Nashville Special Needs Kids Playgroup means so much to our entire family. It means trying new activities, looking forward to familiar ones & connecting with families who truly understand us."
--Emily, mom to Lee and Robert

"We have a 4 year old boy that was diagnosed with Autism in 2010. He had and still has some severe behavior issues which basically left us aside from the “typical” world. A year ago we felt lost, desperate and sad. We felt we had failed as a parent. We felt lack of acceptance by most parents of typical kids and felt like we were alone. I searched and found this wonderful group, met the most amazing parents and kids. We have literally a play date every weekend, which both my kids love. We've learned so many important things for our son while having fun at the same time. It's just been a true blessing in so many ways."
-- Carolina, mom to Josh and Gabrielle
