Jeremy's solution is simple, he needs to get back to work. All he needs is a new leg...

In a small fishing village in Maine, lives the Donahue Family. Jeremy and Nicole, a young couple raising two small children, meet regular challenges any other family would, but this past summer, their common challenges were the least of their worries.

In August, Jeremy noticed that his right leg felt unusual. Concerned, he went to the doctor to figure out what the problem was. This 32 year old fisherman learned he had a vascular disease and needed his leg amputated. In September, that’s just what happened.

Maine Care covered the cost of the amputation of Jeremy’s leg, but doesn’t cover the cost of the prosthesis. Since Jeremy now only has one leg and is unable to work, the needs of this family of four lay solely on the shoulders of Nicole. If you ask Jeremy what the solution is, he’ll tell you he needs to get back to work. He needs a leg.

I don’t know Jeremy all that well, but I do know the kind of guy he is. He’s a hard working man who’s proud to take care of his family. He doesn’t ask for hand-outs. He doesn’t take short-cuts. He lives a humble, simple life doing honest work. And that’s just what he wants, to get back to work, to get back to playing ball with his son, to barbequing with his family, and to having two legs.

The community that Jeremy and I live in is wonderful. It’s rallying together to host benefit dinners and raffles to help with other expenses for the Donahues, but no matter what the amount is it may raise, he still needs a tremendous amount of funds for his prosthetic leg. That’s where all of you come in.

I was thinking about floods. How suddenly, in the matter of just moments, water can raise to remarkable levels, though the drops of rain themselves are small. I’m hoping we can all add a drop of money towards Jeremy’s new sea leg(s) and flood him with generosity. Please make a donation.
