The friends, family and colleagues of Tim and Mitzi Kelly are uniting to raise money to help them through this amazingly difficult time.

Thank you all for your consideration, kindness and generosity towards the Kelly’s daunting medical situation.

Update January 2013
Prior to July 2012, Tim and Mitzi Kelly were enjoying their business and family life together. Thirty three years married, very active in their church and all of his professional associations, they had been successful in their own business for years. When the economy headed south in 2008, they worked at downsizing and adjusting to stay on top of everything, but after carrying a large insurance expenses for decades, by the close of 2009, they could no longer swing the $3300 a month for the family and one full time employee. Who was to know what was around the corner?

Mitzi was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer and was in surgery within the week. A blessing it was found when it was, as she was just shy of stage four which would mean it had moved into other major organs, with an even lower chance of survival. Her surgery was major, and she had a ten day hospital stay for the initial surgery. Other complications lead to additional stays, and now she is well through her chemo treatments and doing very well. Her faith has brought her through the very difficult physical battle, and with the support of family and friends, she expects to be whole and cancer free once again.
Obviously, this care for a now uninsured patient is beyond expensive, and the hospital itself has been very generous, but the cost of doctors and specialists, labs, pharmacy and continued chemo is beyond their ability, and they could really use a lot of help.
While all this is unfolding, fate would deliver yet another blow.

On the morning of December 31, 2012, husband and primary breadwinner and caregiver Tim, would suffer a complete respiratory failure and be transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital for what would become an eleven day stay. Originally diagnosed as acute bronchitis, it would days later be found to be an extremely rare, bi-lateral vocal chord paralysis. This has slowly caused Tim’s airway to become more than 80% restricted, making breathing difficult even on good days. When combined with a cold, congestion or serious bronchitis, the lack of air became deadly. An emergency tracheostomy was performed to restore Tim’s breathing, and he remained in ICU a couple more days then moved to another room to recover from the surgery.
Tim came home and received in-home nursing care for awhile and now both Mitzi and daughter Julia can perform the needed daily care he needs. While he continues to recover, more specialist visits, scans, MRI, scopes and tests are done to assess his situation. Unfortunately, there has been no successful treatment for his situation. While Tim hopes and believes in miraculous healing, in the meantime he may just have to carry on with a permanent trachea device, it’s care and expense, until that day comes.

The Kellys’ must spend most of their time, and have spent all their money, dealing with their individual medical situations. Neither has been able to work for some time, though Tim looks forward to returning to productivity soon. Unbelievably, his medical bills may soon match those of Mitzi’s cancer treatment.

We believe we can help them through this difficult time. Both Tim and Mitzi are strong in both mind and spirit, and are coming back to strength by the Grace of God, in their bodies also. We’d like to help “hold them up” until they are fully restored.

Thanks for your consideration.
