This is the Mac Golden Retriever Surgery Fund. Monies will be used for surgery expenses. Mac has no insurance.

Our dog Mac was hit by a car February 23rd. Mac is a four month old Golden Retriever, and the joy of our Family's lives. He was hit on his back left leg and sustained multiple injuries including a major ligament injury. As a result, he cannot properly bend his back leg to walk.

When the anterior cruciate ligament (the ligaments that prevent the ends of the femur and tibia from moving back and forth across each other) is torn, the joint becomes unstable. This causes the femur and tibia to move back and forth across each other and puts too much tension on the ligament causing it to tear.

The type of surgery needed is the Tibia Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, We need this surgery in case of a ligament tear including the extra capsular suture which is a fairly conventional surgical treatment wherein the suture is placed in such a way that it performs the function of the cruciate ligament by providing support. We are using this option because of Mac's age.

The cost of the procedure is $3687.00. So far, with the help of our relatives and close friends, we have raised $2,187.15. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

I work seasonally as a Tax Preparer and work for hire as a maintenance worker in the warmer months. Right now we have no insurance to cover all expenses. Mac has been a Wonderful addition to the family. (Our daughter's are ages 5 and 3)
