Hello family and friends! Thank you for visiting Amarco's webpage and supporting him in his fight with cancer.

It all started back in September 2014 when Amarco noticed he had a swollen node under his armpit. In typical Amarco fashion, he would always brush it off, saying it wasn’t anything to worry about; After all, the swelling would come and go and it was painless. He would even go as far to joke with me that it could possibly be cancer but yet, not go see the doctor! After letting it go for several months, he started to have major lower back pain in early February 2015. But being the stubborn Amarco that he is, he kept letting it go and tried to go on with his day normally. This time, he diagnosed himself with a hernia (thanks Web MD). Finally, he couldn’t take the pain anymore and we went to Orange Coast Memorial’s ER on March 14 thinking we would be in and out of the hospital in a few hours. Little did we know he would be diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. That same day he was admitted for a week-long stay: one biopsy under his armpit, another in his bone marrow and a round of ABVD chemo. The diagnosis came back with the a 12x8x10 cm mass in his right liver, his spleen enlarged to 17cm, and abnormal lymph nodes detected in the neck, right axillary region, pelvis, and a bit in his bones. To call this life-changing is an understatement.

This fundraiser will be used to offset costs associated with his diagnosis and everyday expenses. While some medical expenses are covered by his insurance, things like rent, food, and other bills are not. The money donated will be used to keep Amarco as comfortable as possible so he does not have to stress about any expenses.

The good news? Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is curable, and aside from this, he is staying very positive. The doctors are optimistic he will make a full recovery by the end of his 6th cycle in September/October. More information about this cancer, which affects the white blood cells, can be found here:

Thank you for reading this! Any amount is helpful and will go a long way. I will continuously post updates in regards to how treatment is going as well.
