Si Si was diagnosed with Leukemia in March 2012 & received a Bone Marrow Transplant in Nov. 2012. Siani needs a Bilateral Lung Transplant.
Siani is 13 year-old who lives in Burlington, Township NJ. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L) in March 2012. Siani's leukemia cells had an abnormal condition called hypo-diploid which meant her leukemia was prone to come back after having gone into remission. Her oncologist strongly recommended that Siani have a bone marrow transplant, as it was her best option for survival. Siani eventually had a bone marrow transplant on November 21, 2012 from an unrelated donor.
As a result of the bone marrow transplant, Siani began to experience the severest form of Graft vs.Host Disease (GVHD) which attacked her skin, sinuses, intestines, and lungs. Siani's lungs are so sick that she desperately needs a Bilateral Lung Transplant. She has been in the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for over an entire year.
A year-long hospitalization experience for any family is an emotional and financial hardship. Long nights and a year's time away from work is financially exhausting. Additionally, the family plans to relocate to a specialist hospital such as St. Jude in Memphis, Tennessee because of her very sensitive medical condition. We are raising awareness about Siani's medical conditions and what the community can do to help the McCurry Family. We want Siani to get better by receiving a new set of lungs because without new lungs, Siani cannot survive.
