Ruben Torres, Stroke Survivor 2010! The triple-bypass open heart surgery was success, however, unable to work and medical bills piling up is not so great. Please open your hearts and wallets to help out a man who always gives but now needs to receive

Austin, Texas: It was Sunday morning, almost 3:00 am. My dad had trouble sleeping but he still tried to get some rest even though he knew his Monday morning wakeup call was just around the corner.

A few minutes passed when he felt a chest pain so severe that he compared it to a knife being pushed in from his back and coming out of the front! He knew when his arm felt numb that this was serious and he had to take action.

With no one to drive him to the hospital, he drove himself. His good arm helped him steer but his shortness of breathe made it difficult to concentrate.

The 15-minute drive to the emergency room felt like an eternity. Once admitted, the hospital confirmed his worst nightmare, "Ruben Torres! Heart attack!"

With no hospital beds available, he was transferred via ambulance to another hospital where doctors prepped him for an emergency triple-bypass surgery.

Unlike other families, we had an opportunity to say, "I love you," "be brave," and "good luck."

Before surgery, he had time to think of his own father passing away from a heart attack years before.

My dad spent time signing release papers in case he died after surgey. He told us where his life insurance papers were and how he wanted us to distribute the money and his house. His last wish..."take care of your 10-year old brother Jacob. Don't ever forget him."

We all put on our brave faces and kissed him off in to the operating room. If those doctors only knew how important he is to us. He's not just another body on that table. He's our dad. Take care of him.

And, that's exactly what they did. The surgery was a success. Everything was in place. Our prayers were answered and nothing failed us! Except one, insurnace, insurance.

Without going in to detail, AFLAC is a complete failure in our eyes. My dad is completing his rehabilitation as directed but he is still not strong enough to return to work.

Please find room in your hearts and wallets to help my dad out by donating through this site. Donations received will be given directly to him and paid towards is mounting medical bills.

Maybe you could take a lunch to work and dontate the $10 you'd normally spend. Make a pot of coffee at home and skip StarBucks...that extra $5 would really help out. (Don't forget to record your donation for tax purposes too.)

I hope no one ever receives the same kind of  "3:00 am wake up call" my dad had, but if so, at least you know there's a great site like this that will allow others to help you, too! Wishing you plenty of blessings and great health! Thank you!
