The family and friends of Tyler and Susanne Murphy are uniting to raise money to help with their recovery and post-transplant care.

In June of 2009, Tyler Murphy was struck with a rare auto-immune disorder called Henoch-Schonlein Purpura. Most children fully recover from this, but in a very small percentage of cases like Tyler’s, it can attack the kidneys. Tyler and a team of physicians at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center have been fighting for over two years to save his kidneys, but unfortunately Tyler is now suffering from kidney failure. Tyler began dialysis in early January of 2012, and is scheduled for a kidney transplant on February 2, 2012.

The process of finding a living donor for Tyler has been long and trying, however successful!! On Tuesday, December 27th, 2011, Tyler’s mother Susanne Murphy was chosen as a suitable donor. While the Murphy family is thrilled with this match, preparation for transplant and the road to recovery lie ahead. The Murphys are a family of four: Steve, Susanne, Ryan and Tyler. Susanne and Steve have been married for sixteen years and to know them as a couple is to know true love. Steve will be the primary caregiver to both Tyler and Susanne post-transplant, so as you can imagine, the Murphy household will be a busy place this year!

Please consider making a donation to Murphys on the Mend. The money donated will be used to pay for medical expenses and to help with daily living expenses while the Murphys focus on a full recovery for both Tyler and Susanne.

We very much appreciate your support, love and prayers!
