Mourning the Loss of a Beloved Brother

In Feb. 2012, our eldest brother, Jessie Jr. was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma. In March 2012, doctors surgically removed the cancer. During this procedure, they discovered that he also had prostate cancer. Both cancers were removed but within a month of that procedure, a tumor developed in his stomach. After several attempts of radiation treatments, doctors concluded that Jessie would not benefit from any more surgeries. He was given 30 days to live.

On July 27th Jessie prepared to travel to Michigan from New Orleans. His last request was that he be able to spend his final days with his siblings. The journey was a grueling and difficult one, however a devoted and determined brother (Eric) saw to it that Jessie's final wishes be fulfilled. Our family was re-united on July 28th! God is so good!

Jessie Lee Weathers Jr. was born Jan. 1, 1963 in Humboldt, TN to Jessie and Mary Helen Weathers. Jessie is the oldest of 5 Siblings. In 1980, Jessie Joined the Army and began to travel the world. Jessie was married to Nina. They have a daughter who is 9 years old, Keilagha Weathers. Jessie was a devoted christian. On August 17, 2012 at 12:10 Am, after spending 19 days at Arbor hospice, Jessie went home to be with the Lord.

Words cannot express how much we appreciate the compassion, patience, and commitment of the staff at Ann Arbor hospice. May God bless them as they continue to serve others. It is a great comfort to us to know that Jessie went in peace surrounded by his loving family.

Jessie’s wishes were that he be laid to rest alongside his parents in Humboldt Tennessee. Jessie had no life insurance. His health issues prevented him from maintaining employment. Due to these unfortunate circumstances, we are humbly asking for donations to help with his funeral expenses and transport back to TN. Any donation would be greatly appreciated as we prepare to take Jessie on his final journey home. We are forever thankful to those of you who have chosen to bear this financial burden with us. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you!

With Love,
The Weathers Family
