My father was recently diagnosed with a mass behind his right eye. He's retired, disabled and without health insurance.

A few weeks ago my father began complaining of pressure and pain on the right side of his face. After talking him into going to an ENT they discovered a small mass behind his right eye. While urgent, the reality is that in modern America without Healthcare or independent wealth you often get substandard or slow medical care or none at all.

My father has always been there for me. Growing up he worked a difficult construction job to provide for my sister, mom and myself. We never wanted, were always well fed, well clothed and loved. He was injured at work in 1999 and retired soon after. He now lives off his small pension but does not have health insurance.

So far he's had only a CT scan, and will need to raise funds for further diagnostic tests and treatments because of his fixed income and lack of health insurance.

In the immediate future there are more diagnostic tests and neurological appointments to take care of. We won’t be sure of the diagnosis until those tests are complete, but in the meantime I felt it important to get SOMETHING started, even if there isn’t a hard goal to achieve yet.

This week will be important in terms of finding out the specific problem and planning a course of action, I’ll post updates as we learn more.
