Would you like to have a positive impact of people living with disabilities in Central Vietnam?

Many of these individuals are also low income, so you can make their participation possible by supporting the purchase of equipment, training handbooks, and other program costs needed for yoga and mindfulness. Join me today in sharing the healing and growth made possible through these practices!

The Association for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (AEPD) is a local NGO based in Dong Hoi, capital of Quang Binh Province in central Vietnam. In Quang Binh Province alone there are over 45 000 persons living with a disability. AEPD strives for an inclusive and barrier-free society where persons with disabilities can fulfill their potential, enjoy equal opportunities, and contribute actively to their communities. The organization aims to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities through economic and social empowerment, as well as access to health care.

Persons with disabilities face multiple daily challenges:
• Social exclusion, stigma and discrimination.
• Accessibility (to physical places, to services).
• Lack of income/employment.
• Emotional issues, depression, lack of self esteem.
• Physical pain, physical challenges.
• Security (housing, food, money).

What/how could yoga and mindfulness improve the daily lives of persons with disabilities?

The needs of persons with disabilities are unique to each individual and their environment. Yoga can be tailored to everybody’s needs in order to provide a rewarding experience for the mind and the body. These tools serve to empower individuals to make meaningful choices, improve their mental, emotional and physical health, and experience a greater sense of well-being.
