Help Association Chaska keep the farmland it needs to realize their dream of creating an agriculture institute on the desert coast of Peru!

Help Association Chaska keep the farmland it needs to realize their dream of creating an agriculture institute on the desert coast of Peru!

Chaska is a non-profit organization that offers classes and workshops for local children and mothers on topics such as nutrition, health, hygiene, self-esteem, and the environment, and provides a safe space for women to do artisan crafts and for children to play and express themselves. They also raise small animals and grow vegetables for the consumption of the family that runs Chaska. Their goal is to be able to expand to the point that they can fully integrate the community education center and the farm so that Chaska is an agricultural education institute that provides technical training in organic farming, fishing and tourism, as a means of developing the communities both socially and economically. They've already contracted an architect who drew up detailed, sophisticated plans for the institute, but right now they lack the financial resources to be able to carry it out.

Now this is where you all enter the picture. Chaska's founders Luz Marina and Crespo set up Chaska on a plot of land that in total measures 23 hectares (about 57 acres!), but right now they are only utilizing about 1 hectare. However, if they don't start developing the rest of their land, the state is going to take it from them and they won't be able to realize the goal they've been working towards for so many years. Luz Marina is already working doggedly to do absolutely anything she can to start cultivating the land, but of course, every little step requires funding: to transport materials from their home to the farmland, they need to fix the old Jeep that's been sitting around broken for the past few years; to get local kids to come plant cactus fruit, they have to provide them with lunch; and of course that is just the tip of the iceberg. Unfortunately, as I’m sure you can imagine, Luz Marina and Crespo have neither the resources nor connections to raise the needed funds, and consequently, they could use absolutely any contribution in any amount that you can give. The good news is that because of the relatively low cost of living, such donations will go an incredibly long way in helping them with this hugely worthwhile project.
