Robert Lewis' family and friends are coming together to help raise money to help cover Robert's funeral and cremation expenses.
Robert Lewis, a 25 year-old Flint-native, was my younger cousin. He was only one year younger than me. We grew up together, we learned to pick on our younger siblings together, and once when I wet the bed at our grandparent's house he took the blame for me. Robert was one of the most loyal, caring, charismatic, young men that I have had the privilege to call "cuz." Robert would always leave a smile on my face no matter what hardships he faced. I mean, the guy was a Detroit Lions fan from birth. His spirit was strong and he deserves to be remembered for this spirit, this charisma.
This past week Robert was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer in his liver and spleen. During the course of a ten day hospital stay his health rapidly declined. The doctors believe this cancer, which developed undetected over the last couple of months, led to the Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation that ultimately ended his life. Unfortunately, like many young adults Robert's age, he did not have life insurance. His illness was completely unexpected and his parents will bear the full burden of the funeral and cremation expenses. Rather than face this alone they are reaching out to their friends and family for support. Please help us fund his funeral and cremation expenses so that Robert's spirit can be honored as it deserves to be.
