Please help offset/assist with medical/daily living expenses to alleviate the financial burden. To help Michael fight the fight for his life.

Michael Duhaime has worked hard all his life and now is struggling to make ends meet. He suffers from end stage COPD - which includes emphysema, bronchitis, asthma, scar tissue from multiple pneumonias and Bronchiectasis. He has been waiting for a double lung transplant for 3 years now and the longer he waits, the harder everything gets to deal with. Paying for health insurance for Michael and his wife run at $1000 per month. With both Michael and his wife on Social Security Disability, things are tight trying to pay for property taxes, health insurance, and all the regular monthly bills. When he has the transplant, it will be performed at Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston and will be in the hospital for at least a couple of weeks, maybe more, depending on how he does and if there are rejection problems, infections, etc. His family will need to be able to stay in Boston while he is in the hospital, which right now, is impossible, because they simply cannot afford it. There will also be many expenses that will not be covered by health insurance. Money raised will be used to help with daily living expenses, expenses while Michael is in the hospital and with anything that insurance will not cover.

Right now, he can't get out much or go anywhere. Every day we wonder how many more days he has left. Every day we wait for the call, and so far has not come. He is on oxygen full time, CPAP machine at night, has to do numerous nebulizer treatments a day as well as a lung vest treatment a couple of times a day. At the beginning, he was hospitalized many times for infections. He has had several really bad infections in the past, but this past year, he has been able to ward off infections and stay out of the hospital.

The stress of these circumstances are great and is adding to the medical conditions of both Michael and his wife, Diane. If the financial stress could be lessened at least a litte, this ordeal should be a little easier on both of them. We have no idea when the call will come, or even if he will live long enough to get the transplant, since it has all ready been several years waiting now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Please show your support. Prayers will be greatly appreciated as well! f you have any questions, or suggestions or just need to contact a representative for the family please call Diane Duhaime at 603-357-3008 or e-mail at dduhaime@ne.rr.com
