Charlie is a feral/stray cat that I met when he was just a kitten. He was too 'wild' to keep as a house kitty & he would likely be euthanized if I brought him in, so I just continued to put food out for him on my back doorstep.

Hello. My name is Charlie. I met Judith in 2004 when I was very young and very skinny. I snuck through her back door because I was very hungry and noticed that she had cat food in a dish sitting there for anyone to eat. When she met me I was too scared to let her pet me, but over the years I have learned that she will not hurt me and every once in a while I will let her scratch me behind the ears.

Recently, I scraped my head and the wound got very infected.  Suddenly, my cheek became as big as a golfball.  Even though Judith has been unemployed for quite some time now, she, with the help of her wonderful roommate, didn't think twice about taking me to the hospital.  They cleaned me up very well, however, while there, we discovered that I was FIV positive.  This is similar to human HIV.

Although I am carrying FIV, I haven't developed the illness and am still otherwise healthy.  I may never develop the full disease and live for many more years!  However, I do not want to accidentally infect other kitties who may want to start a fight with me, so my family has to figure out a way to keep me safe and healthy while not contaminating other kitties who roam outside.  Due to lack of income, she is having a difficult time figuring out how to do that!  So, we thought that we would ask for a little help  - monetary or materials!

Whether you would like to donate money so that we can buy an enclosure for me to live in, or if you have an enclosure to donate.

Another option is to put wire fencing/mesh around our yard/fence so that I can have the whole backyard to myself!  If you have materials to donate, we would be grateful for that, too!

There's a rumor that there will be a bbq and a day o' fun for all of those who wish to come over and see my new set up!

Any ideas and links to websites with helpful information is also very much appreciated!

We will post pictures and video to keep you updated on my progress!

Thank you!

Charlie, Judith and Leda (my fluffy sister who lives inside)
