Help support Zach and Partners In Development bring medical care, education, and housing to the poorest of the poor. www.pidonline.org

"Since 2000, the non-profit organization Partners In Development (PID) has been operating a free health care clinic, a sponsorship program for children, a small construction program to build homes for families and a program supporting small business start-ups with skills training and micro-financing options. An estimated 60,000 Haitians have used one or several of PID’s services since the quake in 2010 alone, yet the institution relies primarily on donations and volunteers."

A year ago I found myself getting off a plane in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti alone and eager to get to work helping in whatever capacity I could. I initially found myself at an orphanage helping nurse babies suffering from AIDS, Tuberculosis, and malnutrition back to health.

Serendipity! One day a group of American volunteers came by with whom I struck up conversation. I was invited to join them the next day on a trip delivering water in Cite Soleil. At the end of that day, they traveled to a small clinic in Cite Soleil called Partners In Development. There I met the president and told her of my interest to come and help in her clinic, to which she gladly accepted.

I spent a month volunteering in the PID clinic treating men, women, children, and babies with all kinds of diseases and maladies. Malaria, diabetes, sickle cell disease, pregnancies, cuts, scrapes, lacerations, all sorts of boo-boos, filariasis, cholera, these are just a few of the things people needed treatment for.

It was the best time of my life. Now I am trying to go back. I want to continue my work there, grow my friendships, and help a great organization help those in need. Your donation will help with my travel expenses, with the vast majority going to PID. Sounds like a great organization yeah? Any amount will help...Thanks!  -Zach
