The family and friends of Gretchen Williams are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against breast cancer.

November 17, 2011 is a date we will never forget… My sister-in-law Gretchen Williams, age 33, was diagnosed with stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer). After hearing the devastating news all I could think was “I can’t believe it. Gretchen is way too young, she is healthy, she is full of life and she is my best friend.”

Due to Gretchen’s treatments, numerous doctors’ appointments, and surgery she is not able to work. I ask that you please help assist with the medical expenses, travel, and daily living expenses to alleviate the financial burden. This will help her focus on fighting the fight of her life!

Dr. Haberman, Gretchen’s oncologist, told her that she would have to have 6 rounds of chemo (completed on April 11, 2012), a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction (done on May 2, 2012) and 25 treatments of radiation (in progress). Because her breast cancer is “triple positive” she has to receive the drug Herceptin weekly through the end of the year as well as the drug Tamoxifen for 5 years after that. Gretchen also had to have 6 monthly shots to put her in a “temporary” menopause so that she would be able to have children in the future. Along with losing her hair, and finally having to shave her head, this whole experience has been traumatizing for Gretchen and her family.

Gretchen is an amazing woman. If you know her you know that she has a heart of gold! Even through her fight, Gretchen has been an inspiration to many and making hair bows, coloring books, and crayons to donate to the local children’s hospital. Gretchen’s positive attitude and incredible faith lights up every room and person that she comes in contact with.

Gretchen’s passion of caring for others, especially those with disabilities such as children with cerebral palsy, and her father who was seriously injured in an automobile accident and later suffered multiple strokes, is an example of why we need to show our Affection for Gretchen.

Due to the treatments, surgery, and doctors appointments Gretchen has had to stop working and is having to depend on her parents financially. There are so many expenses that are ‘out-of-pocket’ including over-the-counter medications, gas for weekly Doctor’s appointments, daily living expenses and the list keeps going.

***** We need to get something started to help alleviate the financial burden while Gretchen fights cancer and focuses on WINNING her fight!*****
