Family and friends of Kobi Shelton are raising money to help her battle against cancer. Without your help treatment will not be possible.

My daughter, Kobi Shelton, was diagnosed in October 2009 with stage 3b Hodgkins Lymphoma after a routine visit to a doctor for a cough. Her physician told her to quit work immediately and she then started chemotherapy five days later, She remained on that regimen of chemo for six months. At that time they decided to do another biopsy to see if what was showing on the scan was still the same cancer. During the biopsy, the surgeon slipped, cutting an artery and landing her in ICU. The result from the cut artery made it necessary for her chest to be opened up like they do for open heart surgery. As a result, further trearment was delayed for six weeks while she recovered from major surgery. Being frustrated with her current situation, and the lack of communication from her doctors, she started treatment at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, OK. A new regimen was started in July 2010 and that was finished in January of 2011. The cancer remains, smaller, but still present. The treatment that has been recommended is full body radiation. This will require her to be in Oklahoma for six weeks, During that time she will be financially responsible for six weeks of lodging and food, in addition to medical expenses not covered by her insurance. During that time she will also be unable to work, so her household won't have that money coming in that it usually has. Her decision as to whether or not she can financially get the treatment depends on her ability, or inabilty to come up with money for lost wages, lodging, and food while she isn't working. Treatment will be scheduled as soon as funds are available.

Kobi is married to David Shelton, and a mother of two boys: Ian - 5 and Bishop - 16. She resides in Liberty, MO.
