Thomas Honeycutt's friends and family are uniting to raise money to help with his battle against AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). #TeamThomas!!

"What movie do you want to see this weekend?"

That was the last conversation I had with my husband, Thomas, on October 19, 2012 before he told me he wasn't feeling well and asked me to take him to the emergency room to get checked out.

That night he was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia. He had blood drawn, an IV placed, and antibiotics administered. They told us he would need to stay for three to five days to let the antibiotics do their job and to recover from the pneumonia.

At 7:00 a.m. the next morning his doctor came in to speak with us. He told us that he had examined Thomas's blood work...twice...and under a microscope...and that there were undeniable signs of leukemia...

...my heart immediately sank.

Thomas was officially diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) on October 23, 2012. From that day forward our lives will never be the same. I don't mean that negatively. Throughout his treatment, Thomas and I have become closer than ever, our family is more thankful for the little things in life, and we are closer to the Lord. I have all the Faith in the world that my husband has the ability to overcome this life-threatening disease and come through stronger than ever.

Over the next four weeks, Thomas underwent his first round of chemo therapy. The goal was to reach remission. Upon completion of remission, the next step would be a bone marrow transplant, which could possibly lead to him being completely cured.

Unfortunately, remission was not the result of his first round of chemo therapy. He will be readmitted to the hospital for round two of chemo on Monday, November 26, 2012. This will include an in-patient stay of 4-5 weeks, and will hopefully lead to remission. Upon remission, we are still planning on undergoing a bone marrow transplant.

This is the beginning of a very long road, but one worth traveling in order to ensure many more years together.

As many people know, hospital expenses can add up quickly. Every aspect of this illness is costly. Thomas will spend a minimum of three months total in the hospital. We currently have no insurance coverage, but have applied for Medicaid. Each bone marrow biopsy alone is estimated at around $3,000. He has already had three biopsies thus far, and is expected to receive at least three more. This does not include the cost of his hospital stays, prescriptions, doctor fees, lab fees, and so on.

Thomas is such an amazing man with so much to offer the world. He started his own IT company, TLH Technology Solutions, in 2002. He currently runs TLH, and provides IT services to many Indianapolis businesses and non-profit organizations. He is the loving father of two wonderful children, Justin and Tayler, a huge role model to his stepdaughter, Emily, and the love of my life! We were married on March 10th of this year, and I am looking forward to all of the incredible adventures that our future holds.

We are lucky to have an incredible support system including family, friends, colleagues and clients. By starting this fundraiser, our goal is to alleviate some of the burden placed on our family by this unfortunate situation. We understand that many people are not in a situation to donate financially, and all that we ask of you is love, support, and prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you,

Appreciatively,
Thomas, Sheri, Justin, Tayler and Emily
