Tara's Totes provides essential items to families in the immediate aftermath of a house fire. Please show your support!

Tara’s Totes are meant to help people who are dealing with the immediate aftermath of a house fire. I have first hand experience with a house fire....my family and I had one in January of 2011. It was devastating. We found ourselves at a hotel with no toothbrushes, ponytail holders, contact solution or any of the other daily essentials that we needed. Within weeks after our house fire we decided that once we got on our feet again, we would help others in the same unfortunate situation. The outpouring of support that we received from friends, family and strangers after the fire brought us to our knees. Once we moved back home (after 6 months), we came up with the idea for Tara's Totes. A tote will provide the family with necessities that will be essential in the hours and days after they are displaced. The average cost to assemble a tote is $100.00. The goal is to assemble 15 totes for the St. Croix Valley and Twin Cities Metro Area in Wisconsin and Minnesota and place them in fire stations. If the fire department discovers that the person or family won't be able to stay in their home, they will give them a Tara's Tote. Each tote includes the following items: 12" deep & 24"x16" width (or about that size) plastic tote, men & women's deodorant, travel toothpaste, 4 pack of toothbrushes, regular size shampoo & conditioner, comb, brush, ponytail holders, men's & women's razors, one bar of soap, travel size hairspray, 2 bath towels, 2 bath washcloths, dental floss, Ziploc sandwich bags, Ziploc extra-large tote size bags, trash bags, plastic utensils, paper plates, paper bowls, roll of quarters, travel size first aid kit, tampons/pads, 4 pack toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, small contact solution, chapstick, hand soap, lotion, plastic cups, baby wipes, flashlight, travel size kleenex, travel size q-tips, motrin/ibuprofen, dish soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener sheets, nail clipper, clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, medium size manilla envelopes to store receipts, 3 subject notebook and pens.
