The family of Michael Ozag are raising funds to help him transition to a safe recovery from a critical back injury and resulting poverty.

Michael "Mo Oz" Ozag is 59 years old, a resident of Denver and a self-employed recycler/hauler, jewelry maker and artist. Eight months ago, Michael suffered a debilitating back injury that has left him mostly bedridden. His wife Elizabeth took over the recycling/hauling business until their work van broke down six weeks later and since then has been finding part-time jobs while caregiving for Michael who is in severe chronic pain and unable to take any medication since he currently has only one kidney; having donated his left kidney in 2002 to save the life of his diabetic niece.

For the past fifteen months, Michael, Elizabeth and their dog Boo have been living in a run-down motel since they have been unable to afford anything else and the stress of that environment has exacerbated Michael’s condition to the extent that he is currently under 90 lbs, his muscles have atrophied and he is in very poor health.

Due to the current economic times, few individuals are in a position to assist with significant contributions but even smaller amounts, by a greater number of individuals, would go a long way towards enabling Michael and Elizabeth to transition into a safer, healthier and more secure living environment so that Michael can receive assistance in recovering and Elizabeth can concentrate on procuring more full-time, professional work.

If Michael and Elizabeth are unable to come up with the requisite financial resources to transition out of their current circumstances soon, they could be faced with living on the streets which would be certain death for Michael.

Any contributions, in the form of donations, would go towards safe transport for Michael, safe complimentary medical treatment, out-of-pocket physical therapy and initial housing rental costs which would all buy time for Elizabeth to secure longterm security. Thank you for your time and your kindness.
