We took Kody in 5yrs ago and rescued her from a home where she was not wanted. If we had not rescued her, she would have been taken to the animal shelter and put down. We could not let that happen to this sweet animal.

She has given us so much joy and love and we cannot imagine our lives without her. I am physically disabled due to Spina Bifida and have difficulties getting around and even though Kody is not trained to be an assistance dog, she is always there when I need her. She seems to always know just what I need. Now, we need to be there for her.

One day on one of her many "daddy and Kody" walks, she had her head down to the ground snooping to see what she could find when all of a sudden, she caught her ear on a sharp object and a big chunk was taken off. We did the best we could to get it to heal but we're not medical professionals. We took her to the vet because it became increasingly worse and now she no longer has blood flowing to her ear and it has become infected. This causes her a lot of pain and upsets us to see her like this.

We have always been able to take her and her fur brother to all of their vet appointments for checkups and shots, etc but my other half who works as a home health aide just lost the majority of his hours at work so we are having a difficult time paying regular bills let alone take care of Kody. I cannot bear the thought of having to find her a new home just because we can't afford her surgery but we may have to if we can't get some help.

The vet can do the surgery to repair her ear but it will cost approximately $500-600. If anyone could please help us help her, we would be forever grateful.
