Get the Ott girls Continuous Glucose Monitors so we can provide the best treatment possible to them!

In 2006 my oldest daughter was born with a disorder called Hyperinsulinism. Simply put she creates too much Insulin which results in low blood sugar. Low blood sugar is dangerous. We monitor her condition through glucose monitors where we prick her finger multiple times a day to monitor her blood sugar. She also takes medication.

Her little sister has the disorder as well but is able to be diet maintained but she gets monitored as well. At night and when the children are at school/daycare the girls go unmonitored.

The doctor thought the idea of a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) would be best so that we could monitor them continuously during the day and night. This would allow us a more accurate reading of their blood sugar trends and allow us to adjust dosages necessary. The Insurance company determined that my girls don't need one because they aren't diabetics. We've appealed but have been denied. There are no more appeals to make.

The insurance company can reevaluate it though and it was suggested that we purchase the devices ourselves and show how important these monitors are for the girls. The problem, these monitors aren't cheap. Nor are the supplies for them. Hence the fundraiser.

For more information check out my blog where you can read about the disorder, it's effects on the girls and other resources.
