I am trying raise money with your help to use for assistive technology for my 4 year old nonverbal twin girls with Autism.

After a hard pregnancy and difficult three years, my twin girls were diagnosed with Autism last July. This August they turned 4 and have yet to really speak a word. It makes it difficult to meet their needs when they cant tell us what they want/need. After starting an early childhood special education program we noticed they loved using the touch screen computer in the classroom. They seem to be fascinated by anything electronic and after seeing them get so excited to play it gave me hope that maybe this was a way to break through to them and get them talking and communicating. I came across a website about the benefits of iPads and Autistic children and it is really amazing how it has changed the lives of some of these families. It would allow them to communicate and learn by using their hands to touch, which they love to do. They try to touch our computer to get it to do what they want but of course sadly it is not set up to do that, nor can we afford to equip the computer with a device that would let them do that. In short I am trying to do everything possible in my power to get each of these girls an iPad and watch them open up and finally be able to communicate with us. It breaks my heart to never have heard my children speak. My ultimate goal is to one day hear what every mother wants to hear. "I love you mommy". Thank you for your support and God bless.
