Friends of Dana & Shelby Boisvert are uniting to raise money to help support them as Dana recovers from a critical illness. Thank you!

On April 4th, Dana was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and other complications. He was moved to the ICU on April 6th and then to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston on April 8th. He was diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and was critically ill for several days. When it became too difficult for Dana to breathe on his own, he was put into a medically-induced coma on a ventilator. Thankfully, against serious odds, Dana came through this critical period and was well enough to come home on April 18th for recovery and rehab. He is making a slow but steady recovery at home and requires daily visits from physical and occupational therapists as well as respiratory equipment.

Shelby's friends at the Chelmsford Mothers' Club have created this fundraising site to raise funds to help Shelby and her family during this serious crisis. Shelby is Co-President of the club and has given so much of her time and efforts to the club since joining the CMC. She has volunteered to help in many different ways, supported so many of our members, and is a good friend to all. One of the most important ways that the CMC supports its members is by coming together when a member is experiencing a serious family crisis and providing support in any way needed. Shelby and Dana have touched so many lives at the CMC as well as at work and their children's schools -- donations from any and all groups or individuals are very welcome.

Shelby used up all of her sick time during Dana's illness, but her employer, Lowell Public Schools, has allowed her to take 12 weeks of unpaid sick time. Unfortunately, since the leave is unpaid, Shelby will no longer be eligible for health insurance unless she pays a huge monthly premium, or returns to work. They have also already received enormous bills for transportation ($9000 alone for the ambulance into Boston), critical care, hospital expenses, and more, plus they need to buy medical equipment to help Dana at home. Health insurance will cover some of these expenses but a huge amount of co-pays, deductibles, and ineligible items must be paid for out-of-pocket. We've adjusted the fundraiser goals with the hope of helping the Boisverts with these worrisome expenses, so they can focus on recovering.

Any donation will be an immense help to Shelby and Dana and will be greatly appreciated. Cards and well wishes can be sent to Shelby at 51 Gumpus Rd, Lowell MA 01854.
