The friends of Aviva Zayan are uniting to raise money to help with her battle against Hodgkin's disease. Please show your support.

I would love to introduce you to my friend Aviva Zayan. Aviva is 31 years old and was born and raised in Chicago. When Aviva was 14 years old she moved with her mom to Israel, where she spent her high school years. After graduation high school, Aviva came back to the US in 2003 to continue her education. Aviva graduated in 2009 from Ann Blitstein’s Teacher’s Institute of Chicago having earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration. Soon after, Aviva secured a position as wholesale manager serving the Midwest. Aviva embraced her new job and found great pleasure in traveling all over the Midwest exploring and seeing new parts of the world while selling goods to different stores. Aviva absolutely loves her life. She has a way of making the ordinary aspects of life fun. She has a keen capacity for transforming situations into learning opportunities for growth. A couple of months ago, Aviva fell and hurt her shoulder. She didn’t pay too much attention to her injury and though she was experiencing pain, she went on with life, her work, and social life as best as possible. After 6 months the pain persisted and Aviva returned to see her doctor. On august 24th Aviva had an MRI scan that showed a mass on her spine and 12 masses in her lungs. The doctor prescribed more detailed scans to confirm what they were seeing. Within 2 weeks, on September 4th, Aviva had an invasive biopsy, and received the diagnosis: stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Because of the advanced stage of the cancer, doctor said that there was no time to waste, and Aviva was scheduled for chemotherapy the following week. She was set for a protocol of 6 cycles of ABVD. Shocked from the diagnosis, and with very little time to digest the news, Aviva committed to fighting the cancer and embracing a full recovery. Researching the chemotherapy treatment and reading about its side effects understandably caused Aviva great concern. What worried Aviva the most was the prospect of getting sick and not being able to function. Aviva has always been the one to care for those around her; she has always been the one volunteering arranging events and going the extra mile for others. The thought of lying in bed and not being able to do what she loves most, made her sick. After much research Aviva decided to start a natural herbal treatment and Chinese acupuncture to neutralize the chemo side effects. Aviva is learning to keep positive outlook on life in general and more specifically on the illness. She’s also learning to stand up for herself and not let anyone bring her spirit down. Aviva is attaching happy people into her life. When Aviva contemplates where she would like to see herself in the future she imagines a happy home, married with children. She also wishes to develop a modality for helping others who are dealing with cancer, its treatments, and the way it changes your life. Aviva has been prohibited from traveling by her oncologist. For Aviva this meant quitting the job she loves so much. Aviva had loved her job very much for the opportunities she had for travel. Giving up her job also put a strain on her financially. Earning and saving money have become a challenge for her, especially now that she has no income. Aviva is doing all she can to defeat this terrible disease. She is fighting for her life, and, through all of this, she always has a smile on her face. In order to keep that beautiful smile, Aviva needs your help. Anything, even the smallest amount, will make a huge difference. Thank you!
