Shadow is a great dog who has been recently diagnosed with a Perineal Hernia, of which requires costly surgery. Together we can save Shadow!

Shadow is one of three brothers we adopted from a dog shelter seven years ago along with his brother Chance. They both are rescue dogs. I would have liked to take their third brother, but he had a large tumor behind his eye -- The shelter opted to put him to sleep.

Both Chance and Shadow are two very healthy dogs who live a comfortable and worry-free life -- until recently, when Shadow was diagnosed with a Perineal Hernia.

A Perineal Hernia is an uncommon condition in un-neutered which causes the muscles around the pelvic region, specifically the rectum, to deteriorate. Shadow has an protruding rectum and often has trouble with bowel movements; if left untreated, it can be life-threatening.

I have fallen on hard times within the past year, as most Americans have, and can barely afford my current living expenses, let alone pricey vet bills. Shadow will require extensive reconstructive surgery of his backside and I simply cannot afford to pay this; the other option aside surgery would to be to put Shadow to sleep.

This is why Shadow needs YOUR help.

As my income is very limited and the cost of this procedure is too expensive, I am reaching out in a final attempt to save this wonderful animal and an even greater friend. Any and all contributions will be put directly to the veterinary costs and care for Shadow.

One person cannot always make the difference, but all of us together can be responsible for Saving Shadow.

NOTE: I just want to send a warm, heartfelt thank you to every wonderful person who is donating, linking to this page, or even telling a friend about this cause. We have achieved so much in so little time, it is almost unbelievable. Thank you all so much for caring and helping in any way you can!

Update! -- Shadow has gone through the surgery and came out of it okay. Unfortunately, his hernia was worse than anticipated and it is only 70% repaired. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for bringing Shadow out of it alive and doing the best they could for him! Also, would like to thank those who continue to donate and spread the word for Shadow's cause and care!
