The family of Pete & Kristin are uniting to raise money to help with Hurricane Sandy relief: lost home & 2 cars to fire/flood.

My cousin Kristin & her husband Pete lost their home and two cars to fire and flood during Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey. Pete received 2nd degree burns in the fire. The events of that night are recounted below. We are raising money to help them get back on their feet and get anything they may need (clothes, food, toiletries, a place to stay, etc.) and to help with the medical expenses. Please try to donate anything you can, as even a few dollars would be a great help.

Here is what happened on October 29th as written by my Aunt Rose, who was staying at Kristin and Pete's home during the storm:

Story of a True Hero,
The night Sandy struck a family was getting ready to call it a night, all of the sudden the man of house smelt gas. He went into his garage to check his gas cans for his generator, water was coming into the garage, he picked up one can the other can when he picked it up had leaked into the water. When he grabbed the can the hot water heater click on and the garage burst into flames, burning some of his face, arms and lower back. Burning he ran into the house yelling get out, his wife, nephew and mother in law were getting ready for bed, his nephew was sleeping. He managed to get his family out safely in cold dark night in 3 1/2 ft of water. Starting to bring everyone to the next door neighbors house, he realizes he dog is not coming out of the house, he rushes into the burning house, with burnt arms, face and back to find the dog, he found her picked her up and carried her to safety. The Hero of this story is my Son in Law Peter, the family, my Daughter, my Grandson Jayden and Myself. Peter will forever be my Hero and the Hero of my entire family! I love him so!! Pete suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns and a broken toe. The house is totally gone along with my Daughters car and His truck. As tragic as this was, and is, because of Pete we are all here safe.
