The family and friends of Joyce Ksiezopolski are uniting to raise money to help with costs during her battle against Multiple Myeloma.

Two years ago, my step-mother Joyce visited the Emergency Room for severe back pain. It turned out she had a large tumor that "ate" through her spine. The cancerous tumor was removed, and she underwent radiation. Unfortunately, she could no longer work.

The cancer has spread into the rarest form of Multiple Myeloma, a very painful and debilitating form of cancer. Joyce has not worked in the last two years and my father, her primary care giver is unable to work full time hours.

Recently, Joyce underwent a stem cell bone marrow transplant and spent several weeks at the Hope Lodge in Hershey, PA. As primary care giver, my father had to stay with her for the weeks of isolation and was unable to work his part time job.

There is no cure for multiple myeloma. The only treatment option is to continue stem cell bone marrow transplants. Joyce is scheduled for another transplant this fall.

Unfortunately, they are too young and do not qualify for medicare, are slightly above the threshold for government provided healthcare and are not covered by an employer plan. Medical, pharmaceutical and household expenses are mounting. Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated.
