Help fund a service trip to Nicaragua where my team at Fordham University will learn about and support the women's rights movement.

A team of 11 members of the Fordham community and myself will leave March 10th, 2012 to spend a week during our spring break to work with members of the community in the North Atlantic coast, learning about their struggle as women in the second poorest country in the western hemisphere and how we, as United States citizens, can better be in solidarity with them.

My team and I will partner with grass-roots and community organizations to learn about issues of women's rights through educational-based learning. We hope to explore issues of women's empowerment, gender equality and sustainable development through a cross cultural lens while visiting with community leaders and representatives to learn about the history and culture of Nicaragua and emerging women's movements in Managua and other rural areas.

This project will cost about $1850 per person which means that, as a group we need to raise just over $20,000. This price includes transportation, donation to the host organization, food, and board. Although we will be trying our best to fundraise on campus through bake sales and other events, most of the money we will be raising will be through personal donations. This is why I am asking you for your help and support. I know that this will be an incredible experience but unfortunately, the cost is overwhelming.

Whatever you can give, whether it is 10, 20, or 100 dollars, any amount would be immensely appreciated and I would be greatly indebted to you for enabling me to be a part of this project. If you are at all able to donate at this time, whatever the amount, Please send any checks to this address:
