This election year, become part of Peyton's Super PAC!

Peyton was born with an extra chromosome, meaning he has Down Syndrome (and extra goodness). With Down Syndrome comes medical bills, it is inevitable. This past fall Peyton got a G-tube and fundoplication and spent six days in the hospital. Because of the type of surgery, it is considered "elective" and because the surgery was not available for Peyton at Bethesda Hospital, where Leah works, it was not fully covered by insurance. Just so we are clear, however, this was in no way "elective" for Peyton, or Leah and Jason for that matter. They struggled a lot in terms of whether or not to get this, and in the end were advised by more than one doctor to go through with it for Peyton's long term health. In the end this should help prevent aspiration of liquids, which he was having a lot of trouble with before the surgery, so much so that he spent a week in the hospital in January 2011.

After talking to Leah on the phone one day, and beginning to get a glimpse of what the bills look like in her house, I decided I had to do something. My family is healthy and happy right now, and Peyton is too for which we are very thankful. But the bills that are left behind are not making for a stress free life at the Mraz household.
