We are uniting to raise $3000 USD for Marius Charlemagne to have surgery for Ulnar Nerve Entrapment at the Elbow (Cubital Tunnel Syndrome).

Marius Charlemagne is from Barbados and is a formally trained bass player and musician whose roots are in Rock and Blues. Losing both parents at a young age has not stopped this young multi-genre bass player to attain an Academic Merit at the Barbados Community College Music Program. Because of his musical gifts, he also attended the The Collective School of Music in New York City. He is only 24 years old and aspires to have a long career in music.

Marius has been suffering from the effects of Ulnar Nerve Compression in his left elbow which has a direct impact on his aspirations. The condition has seriously affected his playing and development and will continue to do so. The only way to alleviate his pain and continue his music career is through surgery. Unfortunately, Marius does not have the means for the surgery and is without medical insurance.

Only playing bass for 6 years, Marius has been invited four times on tour to the Bequia Music Festival with local rock band, "Roadhouse", “Simon Pipe” and Blues Band "Toby Armstrong and the Blues Explosion". The latter were nominated for 2 BMA's and currently play with local rock outfit, "Kite." Marius has leadership skills as well since he was the Band Leader with local artist, Ayana John on a recent tour to St. Louis. He currently teaches the “Rock Ensemble” at the Barbados Community College Music Program. He formed the ensemble while he was still a student and is the bass player, band leader and management of The NJ3O Jazz Band. Marius' versatile talents inspire him to play other genres which led to performing with the 1688 Jazz Quintet, the Experience Calypso tent and he was part of the 2011 Cohobblopot Band.Marius aspires to further his studies abroad and thrive in his musical journey. His influences include Flea, Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Please help us raise this money for Marius to have the surgery to pursue his musical dreams. I will be in Barbados and personally give this money to Marius / The Bay View Hospital so he can have a greater chance to thrive in his love of music. Please help if you can because it will make an enormous difference in Marius' life now and for his future. If you are unable to send money, please send prayers and goodness his way.

As you know, I have come to love Barbados since I started working on a project there 2 years ago. The people, like Marius, are full of love, life, laughter, generosity and music. Please let that flow.

Thank you.

Love,

Oona Buckley
