Please show your support for Adria V Garrett to be able to have the life of a little princess by helping her overcome this heart defect.

Adria V Garrett is expected to be here in April of 2012. She has been, however, diagnosed through a routine ultrasound with a extremely rare congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus.

Normally there are two main blood vessels leaving the heart: the aorta carrying blood to the body and the pulmonary artery that branches immediately to carry blood to each lung.

Instead of having a separate pulmonary artery and aorta, each with their own three-leafed valves, a baby with truncus arteriosus has only one great blood vessel or trunk leaving the heart, which then branches into blood vessels that go to the lungs and the body.

This great vessel usually has one large valve which may have between two and five leaflets. Usually this great vessel sits over both the left and right ventricle. The upper portion of the wall between these two chambers is missing resulting in what is known as a ventricular septal defect (VSD).

Due to the severity and complexity of this condition, the parents of Adria have to be relocated from there location in Great Falls, Montana to a hospital either located in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Portland, or Denver. They have to be relocated in mid-March of 2012 so that doctors can monitor closely the mother and baby until her arrival.

After Adria comes into this world she will have to be immediatly taken into the NICU and stabilized. Once she is stable, she will have to go into surgery to correct the defect so that she will be able to breath on her own. To make sure that everything is working right, she will be in the hospital for a minimum of 1 month.

This fundraiser is being set up to help with the out of pocket expenses that will occur due to the medical bills, relocation and living expenses in the new city, and the move back to Adria's home in Montana so that she will have the chance to grow into the beautiful little girl she is meant to grow into.

Thanks so much from Adria's parents, Kayla Willmarth and Brandon Garrett, and her brothers Garret and Brendan who are looking forward to meeting their little sister.
